Setup guide

Personal — installs on your Mac
- Download CheckMyMac from checkmymac.app.
- Open the DMG and drag CheckMyMac to Applications.
- Launch the app and open Settings.
- Paste your license key and press Activate.
Your key covers two Macs. A slot is bound to a Mac permanently, so re-checking the same machine is always free. Need another Mac? Add a device slot from inside the app — payment links to your key automatically.
Service — runs from your USB drive
Do not install this one to Applications. The Service license lives on a USB drive, and it can only be activated while the app is running from that drive.
- Download CheckMyMac from checkmymac.app.
- Open the DMG and copy CheckMyMac onto your USB drive.
- Eject the DMG. Open the drive and launch the app from there.
- Open Settings, paste your license key and press Activate.
The license binds to that drive's serial number. From then on the app runs from the drive on any Mac you plug it into, with no limit on how many machines you check. PDF reports are saved to a Reports folder on the same drive, so your work travels with you.
One license — one drive. If you try to activate the same key on a second drive, it will be refused. If a drive fails or you replace it, email us and we'll move the license across.
If something goes wrong
- "This is a Service key" when activating. The app is not running from the drive. Quit it, open the USB drive in Finder and launch the copy that lives there.
- The key is refused. Activation needs internet once. Check the connection and try again — diagnostics themselves work offline afterwards.
- macOS refuses to open the app from the drive. Right-click the app and choose Open, then confirm. This only happens on the very first launch on a given Mac.
- All device slots used (Personal). The app will offer to add a slot; you can also buy one from the purchase menu inside it.
Still stuck
Write to yukkaperehenen@gmail.com — include your order number and the Mac model, that is usually enough to sort it out.
